Introduction

OtterLabs is committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

Information We Collect

Account Data. When you sign in with Strava, we store the Strava athlete ID and profile name returned by Strava. If Strava does not provide an email address, we create an internal placeholder so the account can be stored safely. We never have access to your Strava password or any Google sign-in you use on Strava.

Strava Data. When you connect your Strava account, we collect and store activity data including distance, time, speed, heart rate, power, elevation, GPS routes (polylines), and calories. This is done under the terms of the Strava API Agreement.

Uploaded Files. If you upload FIT, GPX, or TCX files, we parse and store the activity data contained within them.

AI Interactions. Messages you send to the AI chat assistant are sent to OpenAI for processing. We do not store chat history beyond your browser session.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely to provide and improve the OtterWatts service: generating dashboards, charts, AI summaries, race percentiles, and training load calculations.

Data Sharing

Activity data is sent to OpenAI only when generating AI summaries or chat responses. No data is sold to or shared with any other third parties.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a secure database. We use signed, httponly session cookies for authentication. All connections use HTTPS.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as you use the service. If you delete your account, all your data is immediately and permanently deleted.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Cookies

We use a single session cookie (fa_session) to keep you signed in. It expires after 30 days. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via email.
